Pastor Nate’s Peace…

Reading the Bible in a Year: beginning Sept 13th The 1 Year Chronological Bible
How did the Bible come to be? What is a testament? What is new about the New Testament? Do you have questions about the Bible? Many of us do, in fact some of us would rather not bother to understand or take the time because it can be difficult to read, names are hard to pronounce, or you may say, “I’ve alreadyread that book or story, I know what it’s about.”
The Bible has so many layers of truth and many fascinating stories that we can relate to no matter how many times we’ve read a story. How does God speak to you in your life? Can you hear God calling? Reading scripture together and sharing in discussion can really help uncover some of the mystery, put aside any fear and help each of us to be more confident in our understanding as well as give more meaning in our lives of faith!
Here is what others have said about reading through the Bible in a year: “I want others to join us in reading through the Bible in a year,” or “I want more study,” or “I didn’t realize that God could speak to me in so many different ways throughout the Bible”. I hope you will consider the endeavor as we begin reading through the Bible Sept 13th the day after Rally Day which begins our Fall programming and Sunday School as well as our Ministry Fair which gives us opportunity to view the many ministries we share in and the many volunteer activities we have available for you. The 6th-8th grade Confirmation classes will also be learning about the 66 books of the Bible, the many people in it and the Good News, gospel message of Jesus Christ!
As Christians we endeavor to learn about God and ourselves in the context and reality of the Bible, God’s Word and the eternal promises that are given. As I attended the Global Leadership Conference in Appleton a few weeks ago, one of my closest friends from high school who is pastor as well said, “Readers are leaders and leaders read.” You are a leader of the Faith and God wishes for us to lead people to Christ. Let us venture in the light of learning more about who we are in the pages of the Bible in this next year!
